Lucas Kavner is a writer and performer based in New York and is thrilled to be joining the amazing team at Writopia Lab. Lucas' essays have been featured in the Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News, The Miami Herald, The Williamsburg/Greenpoint News, and McSweeney's, among others, and he's a founding editor for the popular interview project, "The Days of Yore." His satirical political videos have been seen millions of times online, televised worldwide on BBC, MSNBC, ITV, and CurrentTV, heard on NPR's World Cafe, and featured in the New York Times, Politico, Vanity Fair, and Time. As an actor and playwright Lucas has worked with theaters all over the northeast, including PTP/NYC, Playwrights Horizons, Second Stage, The American Repertory Theater, The Williamstown Theater Festival, The NY Fringe, Dixon Place, Ars Nova, and as a member of Naked Angels writers' group, Naked Radio. The Colt Coeur Theater Company will produce his new full-length play, Green, Off-Broadway this coming Spring. Lucas' comedy group, Swords, has been nominated for ECNY and INNY awards and were two-time winners of the Peoples Improv Theater's city-wide Sketchprov tournament. He holds a B.A. from Middlebury College where he was a recipient of the Scott A. Margolis Scholarship in the Arts and a full scholarship in fiction to the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.
