Need Your Help

{FIRST_NAME|Dear Community Member},
Thanks to you, in 2011 we were able to provide writing support to over 300 young writers from families in need. As we approach our fifth anniversary, we have emerged not only as the most socioeconomically diverse literacy organization in the city, but also as the program most focused on inspiration, excellence, and community.
As you know, laptops are critical to what we do; 99% of Writopia Lab stories are written on computers. Since 2007, we have purchased over 80 computers. Only 51 of them are currently in serviceable condition (nine were broken in the past eight months).
Help Us Raise $15,000
to Replace our Broken Computers
by December 31
Please help us—a donation at any level will be greatly appreciated, and all donations are fully tax deductible.
Warmly and with much gratitude,
Rebecca, Jeremy, and the entire Writopia Lab team

More Awards than Any Other School in the Nation... Again!
Once again, our writers won more writing awards in 2011 than any other group of kids in the nation.
No doubt this is, at least in part, because our young writers come together from all corners of the city, and are constantly expanding their worldviews in the presence of one another, strengthening their work.
Your donations enable us to continue growing that diversity--and to ensure that our writers will continue to achieve their award-winning potential regardless of their economic status.
What Your Dollars Have Enabled Us To Do
-
Provide over two dozen hours of free one-on-one college-essay-writing sessions to families in need.
-
Facilitate free college-essay-writing workshops at public schools in New York City and Washington, DC.
-
Offer over 300 scholarship slots in our creative writing workshops.
Another Way To Help
will allow us to produce our first “It Gets Better” video, narrated by Dan Kitrosser and three Writopia Lab students!

Writopia Lab is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers creative writing workshops for students ages 8 to 18. Our workshops have a maximum of six students each and are all led by a published writer or well-produced playwright. For the last four years, more students from Writopia Lab have won recognition both regionally and nationally in the Scholastic Art & Writing awards than from any other school in the nation.
