It’s a spooktastic party, free for ages 9 and up! Come listen to spooky songs, watch scary movies, or read scary stories… and then try your hand at any of these genres. Additionally, for the week of October 24th through 31st, writers are encouraged to come in costume to workshops all week and enjoy creepy writing games, treats, and fun!

NYC Poetry Festival

Writopia Lab at the 2017 NYC Poetry Festival!

This summer, Writopia is partnering with the Poetry Society of New York to host the 2017 Youth Poetry Festival on July 29th and 30th from 11 AM to 6 PM. Join us on Governors Island for free Teen Poetry Workshops, staged readings, an island-wide scavenger hunt, and more! For teens ages 13+ interested in attending the 1-day (either Saturday or Sunday) poetry workshops, please register here. The all-ages scavenger hunt does not require registration.

Park Slope Lab: Open House and a Free Workshop (Brooklyn)

Writopia Lab is hosting an open house for parents, and a free workshop for kids and teens! Parents will be able to discuss Writopia’s writing workshop style with Writopia’s founder, Rebecca Wallace-Segall, while kids participate in a mini-workshop with Brooklyn Regional Coordinator, Rachel Barclay. Parents, children, and teens will all get a feel for our uncensored, nurturing, creative, super engaging and fun writing spaces.
