Advanced Writing Seminar
Advanced Writing Seminar programs are immersive one- or two-week pre-college experiences for dedicated teen writers. Our flagship program is the two-week residency with a multi-genre portfolio curriculum. We also have a one-week full-day immersive program in both Manhattan and Tenleytown, as well as a two-week half-day online Portfolio and Novel Writing program.
Acceptance for all programs is application-only. The application deadline for the residency is April 15th, 2024. Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis until we have filled the spots. Please email teenprograms@writopialab.org for more information.

Advanced Writing Seminar: Full-Day Portfolio
DC: Monday, June 24th to Friday, June 29th, 2024
NYC: Thursday, June 27th to Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024
Join us in New York or DC for five weekday sessions, focusing on expanding your writing portfolio led by a published author. This session is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and to rising college freshmen.
Time: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time

Advanced Writing Seminar: The Residency in NYC
Sunday, July 7th to Saturday, July 20th, 2024
Join Writopia Lab for an immersive two weeks of writing in the heart of New York City! We are happy to announce our new partnership with the Pratt Institute in uber hip Brooklyn. Our university-based program will be located at 135 Emerson Place, Brooklyn, New York 11205.
Developed for dedicated teen writers, the Advanced Writing Seminar Overnight Program in NYC features a multi-genre portfolio curriculum, and is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and to rising college freshmen.
Writers will spend their mornings in intimate writing workshops led by published authors and produced playwrights. Most afternoons will be spent in Master Classes with experts in genre (screenwriting, speculative fiction, poetry, mystery, etc.). Afternoons and evenings will be spent expanding their writing horizons and exploring everything a global publishing capital like New York City has to offer!

Advanced Writing Seminar: Half-Day Novel Writing (Online)
Monday, July 29th to Friday, August 9th, 2024
Join us online for 10 weekday sessions focusing on expanding your writing portfolio led by a published author. Both programs are open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and to rising college freshmen.
Time: Monday through Friday, 1 PM to 4 PM Eastern Time, 10 AM to 1 PM Pacific Time (No workshops on Saturday or Sunday)
Tuition: $1,190 for the Portfolio program; $1390 for the Novel Writing program (includes additional staff feedback and manuscript review) Limited financial aid is available. To apply for aid, please email financialaid@writopialab.org with a copy of your tax returns and a brief statement of need.
