Sessions can be scheduled during the day, after school, and over the weekend. All private sessions are led by our published writers, produced playwrights, or experienced tutors.

Dozens of seniors each summer and fall write their college essays at Writopia. Almost every single one of our college essay students have won admittance to their top choice schools.
Short Stories, Memoir, or Plays
During the first session, your young writer brainstorms ideas with the instructor, discusses elements of what makes a powerful short story, memoir, or play and begins writing. During the sessions that follow, the instructor continues to walk through the writing process with your child. Young writers have time to process, revise, and write on their own. By the end of ten sessions, most writers will have completed a short piece which they may choose to submit to various recognition programs, publications, or festivals!
In our series of on-going private sessions, each writer receives focused, in-depth feedback on his or her novel from a published author that considers each line and the entire novel. Typically, writers start with at least a partially-completed draft. Prior to the first meeting, the author will read the writer's work-in-progress. Throughout the rest of the process, the writer and author explore and discuss the elements of the central story, how each chapter contributes to this central story, and literary tools that deepen the book's themes as the writer completes a strong draft of the novel. The author and writer often also work through revisions as part of this process.
Expository Writing and Test Preparation
Writopia tutors help students across the country become better essay writers, test takers, and researchers. We start with the basics with younger writers, and help teens think critically, analyze, express ideas, and apply creative concepts to their school papers.
Sessions that are not cancelled 24 hours ahead of time must be paid for in full.
