The Writing Lab

Writopia is a NYC-based writing community that is rapidly spreading across the country! If you would like Writopia to come to your city or town, email or call Rebecca.

Writopia New York's Afternoon Writing Lab

The Resources
There are five lap-tops and three desk-top computers (all wired to the internet and to the printer) available for writers to use at the Lab. Folders, pens, and pads are also provided for those who prefer writing by hand.

The Writers
Kids and Teens come from public and private schools and organizations across the city, country, and from abroad. In 2008, our students garnered more national awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards than did any other group of students in the entire country.!

The Lab
At Writopia's afternoon writing lab, writers bring their work to share with their peers and writing coaches for fun and feedback anytime there is not a workshop in session Monday through Friday, from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. (WritopiaLab is also open on some Sundays.)

Image Semi-Annual Public Readings
Each semester culminates in a public reading at Barnes & Noble. During this exciting event, writers share their work with friends, relatives, and with others who come in response to listings in various media.
