Writopia Los Angeles

Writopia Los Angeles

  • Workshops (ages 8-18) are divided into small, age-based groups.
  • Our LA fall, winter, and spring workshops meet weekly for 10 1.5 hour after-school sessions, or for 8 2-hour weekend sessions (on either Saturday or Sunday).
  • Enrollment is ongoing - we'll prorate students who join mid-session.
  • Participants who complete a piece can submit their work to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and for publication at teen literary magazines. They are also invited to read their writing at a local bookstore during the year.
  • Participants can choose between our scheduled classes (see below) or private workshops-- your schedule, your location. We’ll come to you! (Perfect for home-schoolers and groups of 3-6 friends.)

About the Sliding Scale Fees

WritopiaLab operates with limited resources, relying heavily on support from the community to sustain our programs. So we ask those who can afford to pay full price to do so. Also, if you can afford to pay the full price in monthly installments, that would be preferred as well. However, we realize that not everyone can afford the fee, so we have determined a sliding scale that includes a range of tuition amounts. Please consider your family income, resources, and dependents in the household when determining the appropriate fee for your child. This process is honor-based and confidential. Since we do not require any supporting documentation, we hope that you are honest in your assessment.

Writopia Lab's fees cover the expenses of running a school and allow us to provide generous scholarships and flexible sliding scale fees.
