Outdoor Workshops (LA)
Our outdoor workshops bring our Writopia Lab Creative Writing programming to beautiful outdoor spaces such as parks, beaches, and more.
Writers will come together in small, socially-distanced groups (in masks) to play on-your-feet story-building games and to write quietly by hand—poetry, short stories, graphic novels—and then share, in these inspiring settings.
During socially-distanced, outdoor workshops, writers will spend time brainstorming original pieces and developing their own unique voices through short-form creative writing genres. We will go on poetry walks, play active improv games, and discuss the elements of flash fiction all while using places like the beach, the edge of the world where the land meets the sea which meets the sun, and all the glorious outdoors as inspiration. Writers will write by hand in notebooks, give each other feedback, and work on editing skills.
Writers should bring a mask, a blanket or towel to sit on, a bottle of water, sunscreen, and a snack. We will provide notebooks and pens on the first day.
