Broadcast journalism is digital storytelling. Participants will explore the different elements that make up a news package and learn to employ them in bringing their stories to life in the broadcast medium. Participants will chase a story, interview sources, write a script, record voice overs and learn about sourcing copyright free images, video and music. Participants will have the opportunity to be matched with advanced broadcasting students who will act as mentors and producers as participants work toward creating a digital news magazine at the end of the week (think Writopia Lab meets 60 Minutes).
Broadcast Journalism will be taught by Stu Stein. Check out the recent Bellmore Merrick Broadcasting (BMB) videos below completed by Stu's high school students!
