Erika is so excited to work as a creative writing instructor for Writopia Lab! She first joined the Writopia Lab team as a teaching intern during the summer of 2016. Since then, she has served as an instructor for a Writopia Lab workshop in Ithaca, NY, a counselor at Wricampia, and a volunteer for Writopia’s residency and service program in Quito, Ecuador. She received a BA in creative writing from Ithaca College, where she worked as a teaching assistant in a college-level class on writing the personal essay and in a poetry workshop at the Ithaca Writers Institute. She served as lead poetry editor for Stillwater, an on-campus literary and arts magazine, was awarded first place in the poetry category of her school’s annual writing contest, and was selected to receive a full scholarship to attend the Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers at the University of Houston. Her poetry and short fiction has been featured or is forthcoming in literary journals such as Hotel Amerika, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Peach Mag, Juked, The Birds We Piled Loosely, and elsewhere. She was selected as a semifinalist in the 2017 Button Poetry Chapbook Contest. In addition to instructing at Writopia, she serves as an editor for A VELVET GIANT, an online literary journal she co-founded.
