We had the honor of hosting the Scholastic Gold Medal winners Open Mic at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square on June 10th from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. We loved connecting with winners before the event with some editing notes (to meet the 1-minute time parameter for the reading) and with logistical details. The room filled immediately with lyrical excerpts from fiction, memoir, poetry, and critical essays that explored humor, culture, race, and identity that moved a crowd of over 100. Fellow Gold Medal winners cheered their peers on, and at the end of the reading, we connected with parents and grandparents, some who flew from as far as Korea to celebrate their writer. We\u2019re so grateful for our Scholastic Awards partnership and how it helps us connect with so many writers across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
