THE METHOD
- Each workshop enrolls a maximum of 6 students and is led by a published, award-winning writer and teacher trained in our workshop method.
- We use an integrated and student-centered approach to teaching writing, allowing lessons to arise organically from the writing our students produce.
- We challenge students to set and achieve writing goals: they are encouraged to complete at least one well-developed, polished piece throughout the course of their workshop.
- We develop students’ facility with technology as they write on our laptops, utilize the internet for research, and store their work on online accounts.
- Through our innovative workshop method, we empower students as peer leaders as they gain skills in writing, editing, analysis, and effective communication.

THE MISSION
"The one change that most needs to happen to make American education realize its potential as an engine of opportunity and economic growth is not better math and science instruction but a writing revolution that puts language and communication in their proper place in the classroom
. More out-of-school time should also be used to encourage writing, and specifically, writing workshops for the students." (National Commission on Writing in America's Schools and Colleges, The Neglected R: The Need for a Writing Revolution 06.)
