Emily Duru
Instructor

Emily Duru is new to Writopia Lab and is overjoyed to be joining as an instructor! Emily is a third-year PhD student in the department of Literature and Writing at Howard University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of Black womanist thought, hip hop studies, and the digital humanities. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she received her BA in English with a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon. Her short stories have received departmental recognition at the University of Oregon and her short story was accepted into Sigma Tau Delta. Outside of writing, she loves reading, puzzles, and music. Emily cannot wait to help young writers continue to expand in their passion and sharpen their skills!
