Ricardo Vázquez
Instructor
Ricardo Vázquez is excited to be joining the Writopia team as an instructor. He is a New York-based actor and writer who enjoys collaborating on films, plays, musicals, and new works. He recently appeared in the Tony-nominated 2024 Broadway revival of Our Town directed by Kenny Leon. He was also part of the original Broadway cast of The Inheritance, which won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2020. As a writer, he was a Playwrights' Center Jerome Many Voices Fellow and, in collaboration with Tony Award winner Robert Rosen (Théâtre de la Jeune Lune), created and toured two solo pieces that celebrate the history of Puerto Rico: Juracán: The Jíbaro and his Three Sons, and Escúchame. He has written articles on theater criticism and the creative process, published online through the Playwrights' Center and Minnesota Playlist. In 2013, he received the coveted Twin Cities IVEY Award for his contributions to the theater community. Ricardo has been a guest artist/director/faculty member with The Juilliard School, CUNY Creative Arts Team, Long Island University B.F.A Acting Program (LIU), Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS), The Guthrie Theatre/University of Minnesota, Augsburg College, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Z Puppets Rosenschnoz, Teatro del Pueblo, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, and Ten Thousand Things.
