Cory-Alice André-Johnson
Community Partnership Coordinator and Instructor
Cory-Alice André-Johnson enthusiastically joined Writopia in 2026 as a Community Partnership Coordinator and Instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Virginia and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Africana Studies at Tulane University. She writes ethnographic fiction and critical theory, often blending the two together. She has published three short stories in this style, Hunger, Vazaha Always Want to Know, but We Talk Like Dreams, and They'll Steal Your Eyes, They'll Steal Your Teeth. Her first book, Between Bones and Sea, is in contract with Duke University Press. She has also taught extensively in university settings, including a number of college writing courses. She enjoys working with students to understand how language and creative writing can be used to build both imaginative worlds of possibility and strong arguments about the worlds we currently inhabit. What's Hot?
