Hanne Williams-Baron

Program Manager

Hanne is delighted to join Writopia Lab as Program Manager. Born and raised in San Francisco, and now based in South Berkeley, Hanne is proud to rep the Bay! While attending Oberlin College, she found a home in slam poetry, and enjoyed coaching the writers on her team to semi-finals at the national college poetry slam. In 2019, Hanne graduated from Oberlin with a degree in Comparative American Studies, and received the Comfort Starr Prize for her capstone on the spoken word movement. She earned a Certificate in Comics from the Sequential Artists Workshop in 2023, and has co-organized the East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest (EBABZ). Her essays can be found in Xtra Magazine, the Oakland Review of Books, and the This Year Project. In 2026, she co-edited an anthology of queer and trans stories which is available at the Oakland Public Library! She loves helping writers find their most confident and unique voices, and is so excited to hype up Writopia Lab’s Bay Area community.
